In the Telecom world, conferencing is about as old of a service as one can get these days. It’s been delivered since what seems like the dawn of time, and it’s a pretty vanilla service. Cisco and others have made web conferencing standard for a lot of big enterprises, but there are a TON of companies who would love a great conferencing App.
I always think it’s ludicrous to try to shoehorn social into everything, but FireSpotter labs has done a great job with what looks like killer integration. In UberConference, their new product offering, what starts out as a fairly simple conference experience is transformed into a much more valuable discussions since the social presence of each attendee is presented in a clickable form.
One of the biggest pains for people who are on calls all day long is simply remembering to whom you are speaking and why. If you have 5 conferences a day, with 10+ attendees, chances are you’ll forget what one person does or a detail in their background. Just being able to summon up the LinkedIn information of attendees has tremendous value in this context!
